UNIMED Medical Service Group: Leisure Activities in Israel
Medical tourism is one of the latest concepts to hit the travel industry – it combines the fun of a vacation with a trip for inexpensive medical care in a foreign country. Israel, a western style country in the Middle East is the perfect location for such a vacation, offering world class beaches and site seeing along with an extensive array of both traditional and holistic medicine programs and all in the midst of the Mediterranean sunshine.
Enjoy Holistic Medicine in Israel
Among the holistic medicine options in Israel, the Dead Sea is probably the most famous. This site, which is a finalist candidate for the new seven wonders of the world is the lowest point on earth and the sea is known for providing a number of health benefits from skin treatment to helping diabetics to lower cholesterol. Other options for holistic medicine in Israel include trips to natural springs and salt caves which are designed to help asthmatics to breathe more regularly.
We Speak Your Language
UNIMED organizes tours for both patients and their family all over Israel and we will even arrange for a guide to take you all over the country and show you the sites in your own language. You can go and see the sites before or after any medical treatments you’ve arrived for, depending on the particulars of your case so as to maximize your time in this magical, biblical nation.
Make it a Spa Holiday
Don’t really need a medical holiday, but need the kind of holistic treatments that Israel is known for? Consider allowing UNIMED to plan a complete spa holiday for you, including visits to the Dead Sea, Tiberias Hot Springs and more. We’ll help you relax and get the holistic medical treatments you need in your own language.
Our Recommendations
If you’ve already got an idea of what you want to see in Israel, that’s great – we can customize your tour for you, regardless of what you want to see. However, if you’re looking for recommendations, may we suggest:
Jerusalem – No visit to Israel is complete without visiting Jerusalem. Sacred to three religions, Jerusalem is where King Solomon built his temple, where Jesus died for the sins of mankind and where Muhammed ascended to heaven. It is truly one of the treasures of Israel and one of the most unique and beautiful cities on earth.
Eilat – Located at the tip of Israel along the Red Sea, Eilat offers a fun filled vacation for the whole family, including coral reefs, an underwater observatory and plenty of scuba diving year round.
Safed – The mystical city where it is said that the secrets of the ancient kabbalah were revealed is today the home of a large artists quarter where paintings and art of all kinds can be purchased at very reasonable prices. Religious artifacts are widely available here as well.
Haifa—Those wishing to see what true coexistence is like simply must visit Haifa, one of the most picturesque cities in Israel. Breathtaking views are the norm here since the city is built into the side of a mountain. However, what makes Haifa unique is that it is home to so many diverse groups of people, from Muslims to Christians to Bahai and of course Jews of all stripes. Be sure to try the Carmelit, Israel’s only subway, which runs up and down the side of the mountain and is a tourist attraction all its own.
Negev Desert—The Negev is Israel’s southern periphery and the stark views in this area are truly a marvel to behold. You can take a jeep trip to see some of the beauty that nature has bestowed on this harsh area, including the world’s largest volcano crater at Mahesh Ramon.
Dead Sea—Finally, as noted above, be sure to spend some visiting the Dead Sea while spending time in Israel. The lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea allows you to float on a bed of sea salt and it has medicinal properties which make it the perfect accompaniment to a medical tourism vacation.
